In workplaces, it is common to meet people who are good souls, fun and great friends, and to meet folks who are admired for their professionalism; it is rare to meet someone who is both. Murray is that man. For the years that we worked together, it was always obvious that his colleagues and students appreciated this, that their days were made lighter and more enjoyable by his company. In some ways, it was as if Murray, Sam, Zach and Sophie were just expanding their family, welcoming all comers. We can only ever be thankful for this. But is also explain why, at this time, that, as Aeschylus said, “There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief.” Love you, Murray, Sam, Zach and Sophie.
